Giving A Product Away For Back End Commissions?

An Update: At the rate I’m going, I don’t think I’ll reach my $1000 per day goal by next month. I’m being realistic here. The products I sell currently net me between $300 to $600 per day, an average of $450 per day. That’s not bad, the problem I have is I have been hit and continue to be hit with copyright theft. I’ve been working hours each day to put a clamp on it (with success) but it’s not going to go away. There is huge demand for my products but there are a few that don’t want to pay for it and that’s hurting sales.

No matter, I’m still averaging higher then normal sales and showing a positive growth trend for the coming months and years ahead. I started out with $20 to $100 a day in sales and have steadly grown to where I’m at now, $300 to $600 per day. I have four products, two which are my main money makers.

I have been debating what to do with my other two products, there is demand for them but I do not advertise them hardly at all. I feel they are not my best work so I let them sit ideal and generate the random sale every once in awhile. What I plan to do is focus on the one with the most interest, make it better and then start promoting it to my current customers. I have to make it where my current customers want it. I have to make them understand that they need this to further their own business. That’s where I’m at right now. To finish a product I felt was never completed and market it hardcore for solid sales. I’m Hoping that’s what will happen.

My other options is to break the product down and sell it in two parts. Or give away the first part and sell the other half. Or just give it away and promote affiliate products on the back end. I have a lot of options, but I haven’t decided which option is the best way to go. I know many bloggers who give away a product,, and make great money on the back end promotions, and affiliate commissions. I think that COULD work for me, though I have never tried it myself.

It seems I have some research to do. Would this be the solution to put my over the top? This should generate $50 to $200 more per day in sales and affiliate commissions. The good thing is this product is broad. The bad thing is the product is BROAD. It’s a huge niche with a lot of competition.

I’ll get started with this and report back in a couple weeks with the progress I’ve made.

This guy explains it pretty well, except he throws in the idea of using affiliates to promote your products: http://www.divorcekit.com/Viral/Backend_Profit_Secrets_and_Viral_Marketing.html

Moving Forward.. Hopefully..

So I’m currently I’m making $400-$500 a day! I don’t know how it’s possible but for some reason things are moving forward as planned.

I have outsourced a lot of my tedious work. I have automated a few other things and I think it’s paying off. I think the main thing that’s doing it is providing a self-service product. Keeping myself out of the picture by offering a HelpDesk which I’m working to outsource and a know it all FAQ page. I think the FAQ page is doing it. It’s answering the common questions people usually ask before they buy.. so now instead of wasting my time by asking a question or not asking at ALL and not buying.. they get their answer and just buy instead. I put this on my main product page so far and I’m going to expand it over to a couple more product pages and see what happens!

I was using pbworks.com as my todo list and general area to organize my thoughts. It’s a great platform and it did it’s job. But now I moved over to toodledo.com which is a real todo list and it syncs with all my other devices which is making myself more productive.

Lately I have not felt as motivated as usual. Dealing with virtual assistants isn’t as hands off as you would think. I have two virtual assistants and one main programmer I work with. The programmer is very time consuming as I have to approve each step of progress. The virtual assistants kind of do their own thing but they’re so efficient I have to sit down and write out a new task for them just about every day. I have one really great assistant too, and at only $3 an hour I can’t go wrong. Maybe I’m just being lazy.

So my strategy so far is to remove tasks from my to-do list that are not part of my goals. This is easy to do with toodledo goals. If an item on my to-do list does not fit under one of my listed goals.. I have to think real hard about if it’s going to help me or just slow me down. If it slows me down and I can’t outsource it I have to remove it.

That’s an update for now.. so far so good!

Learning to Automate

Part of reaching my goal is to free up time so I can expand on and create new sources of income. That means automating tedious but necessary tasks. Outsourcing what I can’t automate and eliminating time wasting tasks that only slow me down and don’t make money.

So far I found a virtual assistant from oDesk at only $3 an hour and he does a great job on the tasks I have given him so far.

I have contacted a programmer to write a script for one of my websites which will take care of 75% of the customer issues I currently get. This will free up at least an hour a day!

I setup a helpdesk and I’m starting to funnel all customer questions to it so I have a centralized location to handle customer issues instead of everything coming to my email account. I will eventually outsource the helpdesk to free up even more time.

I also turned my “contact me” pages into FAQ pages with a small link to my helpdesk at the bottom. I hoping this will serve to better answer the most common questions quickly and slow questions down, thus freeing up more time.

Things are progressing nicely. So far sales this month have already surpassed sales from the last month, which is great!

Time to get back to work!

And it Begins – My Goal is to make $1000 a Day!

Yep, that’s right, who says I can’t reach $1000/day in income? Who makes that kind of money anyway? Plenty of people that’s who!

The reason why I want to make $1000 per day is just because it’s something I want to do. It’s a goal, it will take hard-work but it’s not impossible. Like all goals it requires careful planing and dedication to reach. I have visualized success already, I know how to reach my goal and now with the help of this blog I will succeed.

What is $1000 a day anyway? It’s just $30,000 a month…

Long term I want to be a millionaire in three years, that’s Jan, 2014. If things work out I can easily do that in just two years or less.

Currently I make on average $9,000 to $12,000 a month as an internet marketer. I have been at this level for about 6/months now.

My goal is to reach $1000 per day by April 15th, 2011. That’s ONLY a couple months away I understand but from what I’ve learned it’s better to have a short defined amount of time to reach a goal, rather then an unlimited amount of time. This keeps the pressure up and you focused on the task at hand.

That’s the goal! I will update 1k2day often with details on how I’m doing and what I plan to do to reach my goals. I will be up front and honest as much as possible. I will keep this as a journal to my goal of $1000 per day!

And it begins!
